Narrative:

Cross country flight from miami, oklahoma to addison, tx, when engine lost power. Made emergency landing in a field. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: reporter states FAA classified this as an incident. Minor damage to nose wheel and left wingtip. He has been through a re-check and FAA did not take away his certificate. He is currently working on instrument and commercial ratings. His instructor had reviewed his calculations when they received a WX briefing and approved of them. Reporter feels there may have been a head wind from WX to the south. It was night and he feels very lucky to have survived. Aircraft is BE77. Reporter now checks his fuel 3 times before departure.
