Narrative:
Taxi instructions were received that included an immediate left turn. Due to operational and WX reasons (only left engine running and unable to start right due to APU inoperative and close quarters, snow on txwys, and high gross weight) the aircraft was physically unable to turn left. We were unable to communicate our situation to ground control due to extreme radio congestion. After several mins of blocking several aircraft and unable to contact ground, we taxied clear by making a right turn and then informed ground.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: THIS FLC ATTEMPTED A SINGLE ENG TAXI ON SNOW. THEY WERE FORCED BY THIS CONDITION TO TURN THE DIRECTION OPPOSITE TO THEIR INSTRUCTIONS.
Narrative: TAXI INSTRUCTIONS WERE RECEIVED THAT INCLUDED AN IMMEDIATE L TURN. DUE TO OPERATIONAL AND WX REASONS (ONLY L ENG RUNNING AND UNABLE TO START R DUE TO APU INOP AND CLOSE QUARTERS, SNOW ON TXWYS, AND HIGH GROSS WT) THE ACFT WAS PHYSICALLY UNABLE TO TURN L. WE WERE UNABLE TO COMMUNICATE OUR SIT TO GND CTL DUE TO EXTREME RADIO CONGESTION. AFTER SEVERAL MINS OF BLOCKING SEVERAL ACFT AND UNABLE TO CONTACT GND, WE TAXIED CLR BY MAKING A R TURN AND THEN INFORMED GND.
