Narrative:
Exiting of the south ramp contacted memphis ground for taxi instructions. Upon contact we were told to taxi via victor taxiway to sierra hold short runway 27 at sierra. As I acknowledged ground changed instructions to make a hard left turn and taxi via victor and bravo, follow traffic exiting bravo crossing runway 27. As we approached victor 2 the captain decided to turn right onto V2 and follow the traffic we were instructed to follow across runway 27. Since ground traffic was light we did not advise ground as to our intention. Upon our right turn onto V2 we held our position waiting for our traffic to cross runway 27 at bravo taxiway. At this point ground instructed us to cross runway 27 and asked another airplane to flash its landing light then asked us to flash our light. When we did that, ground advised us that we just cut our traffic off and asked if we crossed at the old P taxiway which is now V2. We verified that we had, ground then continued to issue us more taxi instructions to runway 36R via B short of south. We started to discuss what happened and the captain got on the radio to discuss the situation with the controller. The controller then advised us that we missed a taxiway to hold short of south. A clearance we never heard probably because we had been discussing about the previous deviation. There was a breakdown in crew discipline of the sterile cockpit, we allowed ourselves to get caught up in a mistake we had made, and made another one by missing a turn on the taxiway. In the future I will not allow myself to be distraction by such conversations. Also, should a captain decide to alter his taxi clearance I will immediately advise the controling agency.

Title: THE RPTR STATES HIS CAPT DID NOT COMPLY WITH THE TAXI INSTRUCTIONS OF THE GND CTLR.
Narrative: EXITING OF THE S RAMP CONTACTED MEMPHIS GND FOR TAXI INSTRUCTIONS. UPON CONTACT WE WERE TOLD TO TAXI VIA VICTOR TXWY TO SIERRA HOLD SHORT RWY 27 AT SIERRA. AS I ACKNOWLEDGED GND CHANGED INSTRUCTIONS TO MAKE A HARD L TURN AND TAXI VIA VICTOR AND BRAVO, FOLLOW TFC EXITING BRAVO XING RWY 27. AS WE APCHED VICTOR 2 THE CAPT DECIDED TO TURN R ONTO V2 AND FOLLOW THE TFC WE WERE INSTRUCTED TO FOLLOW ACROSS RWY 27. SINCE GND TFC WAS LIGHT WE DID NOT ADVISE GND AS TO OUR INTENTION. UPON OUR R TURN ONTO V2 WE HELD OUR POS WAITING FOR OUR TFC TO CROSS RWY 27 AT BRAVO TXWY. AT THIS POINT GND INSTRUCTED US TO CROSS RWY 27 AND ASKED ANOTHER AIRPLANE TO FLASH ITS LNDG LIGHT THEN ASKED US TO FLASH OUR LIGHT. WHEN WE DID THAT, GND ADVISED US THAT WE JUST CUT OUR TFC OFF AND ASKED IF WE CROSSED AT THE OLD P TXWY WHICH IS NOW V2. WE VERIFIED THAT WE HAD, GND THEN CONTINUED TO ISSUE US MORE TAXI INSTRUCTIONS TO RWY 36R VIA B SHORT OF S. WE STARTED TO DISCUSS WHAT HAPPENED AND THE CAPT GOT ON THE RADIO TO DISCUSS THE SIT WITH THE CTLR. THE CTLR THEN ADVISED US THAT WE MISSED A TXWY TO HOLD SHORT OF S. A CLRNC WE NEVER HEARD PROBABLY BECAUSE WE HAD BEEN DISCUSSING ABOUT THE PREVIOUS DEV. THERE WAS A BREAKDOWN IN CREW DISCIPLINE OF THE STERILE COCKPIT, WE ALLOWED OURSELVES TO GET CAUGHT UP IN A MISTAKE WE HAD MADE, AND MADE ANOTHER ONE BY MISSING A TURN ON THE TXWY. IN THE FUTURE I WILL NOT ALLOW MYSELF TO BE DISTR BY SUCH CONVERSATIONS. ALSO, SHOULD A CAPT DECIDE TO ALTER HIS TAXI CLRNC I WILL IMMEDIATELY ADVISE THE CTLING AGENCY.
