Narrative:
While on a pleasure flight from ereve coeur airport, I noticed ground activity near a grass strip runway that I had used several times in past yrs to simulate forced lndgs. Because the strip was unmarked on my sectional and I had often wondered who it belonged to and what it was used for as I had never observed any activity on it, I decided to land and try to find out. After exiting my aircraft and approaching the person on the ground, I observed he was wearing a uniform. I asked him about the strip and he informed me it was used by wildlife refuge personnel and said I should leave immediately or I might be arrested. I immediately entered my aircraft and left the area. After returning to my home airport I attempted to find the strip on my sectional as I had several times in the past and failed. I did notice several little blue dots and lines which did not appear to include the grass strip in question. I failed to connect the blue dots to the caption 'mark twain wildlife refuge.' at that time I could not find the blue dots in the sectional legend and failed to look for them in the map margin on the reverse side. Several days later, I received a phone call from the wildlife department and after several questions and answers I was informed that the matter would be turned over to the proper auths. After this conversation I renewed my efforts to find something on my sectional about this grass strip in question and was able to find the 'mark twain' area and the information to pilots in the margins on the reverse side. The mark twain area as marked on my sectional does not appear to include the grass strip although it is in close proximity. I feel that a good corrective action would be to identify the wildlife areas more prominently on aviation charts and especially any landing areas should be marked in a normal aviation chart manner (ie, landing site symbol) but indicating a restr area, with a note in the legend about the areas and where more information may be found. Corrective action on my part in the future will be to find out more about any unident landing areas before contemplating the use of them.

Title: UNAUTH PENETRATION OF AIRSPACE RESTR AREA.
Narrative: WHILE ON A PLEASURE FLT FROM EREVE COEUR ARPT, I NOTICED GND ACTIVITY NEAR A GRASS STRIP RWY THAT I HAD USED SEVERAL TIMES IN PAST YRS TO SIMULATE FORCED LNDGS. BECAUSE THE STRIP WAS UNMARKED ON MY SECTIONAL AND I HAD OFTEN WONDERED WHO IT BELONGED TO AND WHAT IT WAS USED FOR AS I HAD NEVER OBSERVED ANY ACTIVITY ON IT, I DECIDED TO LAND AND TRY TO FIND OUT. AFTER EXITING MY ACFT AND APCHING THE PERSON ON THE GND, I OBSERVED HE WAS WEARING A UNIFORM. I ASKED HIM ABOUT THE STRIP AND HE INFORMED ME IT WAS USED BY WILDLIFE REFUGE PERSONNEL AND SAID I SHOULD LEAVE IMMEDIATELY OR I MIGHT BE ARRESTED. I IMMEDIATELY ENTERED MY ACFT AND LEFT THE AREA. AFTER RETURNING TO MY HOME ARPT I ATTEMPTED TO FIND THE STRIP ON MY SECTIONAL AS I HAD SEVERAL TIMES IN THE PAST AND FAILED. SEVERAL DAYS LATER, I RECEIVED A PHONE CALL FROM THE WILDLIFE DEPT AND AFTER SEVERAL QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS I WAS INFORMED THAT THE MATTER WOULD BE TURNED OVER TO THE PROPER AUTHS. AFTER THIS CONVERSATION I RENEWED MY EFFORTS TO FIND SOMETHING ON MY SECTIONAL ABOUT THIS GRASS STRIP IN QUESTION AND WAS ABLE TO FIND THE 'MARK TWAIN' AREA AND THE INFO TO PLTS IN THE MARGINS ON THE REVERSE SIDE. THE MARK TWAIN AREA AS MARKED ON MY SECTIONAL DOES NOT APPEAR TO INCLUDE THE GRASS STRIP ALTHOUGH IT IS IN CLOSE PROX. I FEEL THAT A GOOD CORRECTIVE ACTION WOULD BE TO IDENT THE WILDLIFE AREAS MORE PROMINENTLY ON AVIATION CHARTS AND ESPECIALLY ANY LNDG AREAS SHOULD BE MARKED IN A NORMAL AVIATION CHART MANNER (IE, LNDG SITE SYMBOL) BUT INDICATING A RESTR AREA, WITH A NOTE IN THE LEGEND ABOUT THE AREAS AND WHERE MORE INFO MAY BE FOUND. CORRECTIVE ACTION ON MY PART IN THE FUTURE WILL BE TO FIND OUT MORE ABOUT ANY UNIDENT LNDG AREAS BEFORE CONTEMPLATING THE USE OF THEM.
