Narrative:
During climb out, approximately 15,000 flight attendant entered cockpit and advised captain of an odor in the mid-cabin area. First officer was sent to mid-cabin and confirmed odor but could not identify it. Captain went to mid-cabin and confirmed same. Decision made to land as soon as possible. Advised ATC. WX and distance to memphis made return to huntsville the best choice. Advised ATC, flight attendants, passenger and atl (home office). Performed appropriate manual procedures en route. Landed hsv approximately 20 min later. Ground emergency equipment confirmed no smoke or abnormalities. Taxied to gate.

Title: FLC OF AN MLG RETURNED TO LAND AFTER AN UNIDENTED SMOKE ODOR WAS SMELLED IN THE MID-CABIN.
Narrative: DURING CLBOUT, APPROX 15,000 FLT ATTENDANT ENTERED COCKPIT AND ADVISED CAPT OF AN ODOR IN THE MID-CABIN AREA. FO WAS SENT TO MID-CABIN AND CONFIRMED ODOR BUT COULD NOT IDENTIFY IT. CAPT WENT TO MID-CABIN AND CONFIRMED SAME. DECISION MADE TO LAND ASAP. ADVISED ATC. WX AND DISTANCE TO MEMPHIS MADE RETURN TO HUNTSVILLE THE BEST CHOICE. ADVISED ATC, FLT ATTENDANTS, PAX AND ATL (HOME OFFICE). PERFORMED APPROPRIATE MANUAL PROCS ENRTE. LANDED HSV APPROX 20 MIN LATER. GND EMER EQUIP CONFIRMED NO SMOKE OR ABNORMALITIES. TAXIED TO GATE.
