Narrative:
Aircraft landed dtw runway 3L cleared runway at K-10 contacted ground control and was told to taxi to gate via outer taxiway and K-15, pass behind a metroliner. At K-15 I looked out my side window back as far as I could see and did not see any aircraft or vehicles on the inner taxiway. I told the captain the inner was clear and he started the right turn into the alley. Next I heard on ground control frequency someone say 'I guess we'll pass behind him.' then ground control said 'I appreciate that.' then someone else said 'I guess he was in a hurry.' I had assumed when I saw the inner was clear that the metroliner had already passed by. Visibility in this aircraft to the rear is non-existent. It would have been helpful if ground control had advised us of the metroliner's position in relation to us and also to advise us as we approached K-15 that he was approaching us from our right rear. Normally dtw does not use both inner and outer txwys for same direction travel. Ground traffic conditions at the time were very light.

Title: NON COMPLIANCE WITH TAXI INSTRUCTIONS, CUT OFF ANOTHER ACFT.
Narrative: ACFT LANDED DTW RWY 3L CLRED RWY AT K-10 CONTACTED GND CTL AND WAS TOLD TO TAXI TO GATE VIA OUTER TXWY AND K-15, PASS BEHIND A METROLINER. AT K-15 I LOOKED OUT MY SIDE WINDOW BACK AS FAR AS I COULD SEE AND DID NOT SEE ANY ACFT OR VEHICLES ON THE INNER TXWY. I TOLD THE CAPT THE INNER WAS CLR AND HE STARTED THE R TURN INTO THE ALLEY. NEXT I HEARD ON GND CTL FREQ SOMEONE SAY 'I GUESS WE'LL PASS BEHIND HIM.' THEN GND CTL SAID 'I APPRECIATE THAT.' THEN SOMEONE ELSE SAID 'I GUESS HE WAS IN A HURRY.' I HAD ASSUMED WHEN I SAW THE INNER WAS CLR THAT THE METROLINER HAD ALREADY PASSED BY. VISIBILITY IN THIS ACFT TO THE REAR IS NON-EXISTENT. IT WOULD HAVE BEEN HELPFUL IF GND CTL HAD ADVISED US OF THE METROLINER'S POS IN RELATION TO US AND ALSO TO ADVISE US AS WE APCHED K-15 THAT HE WAS APCHING US FROM OUR R REAR. NORMALLY DTW DOES NOT USE BOTH INNER AND OUTER TXWYS FOR SAME DIRECTION TRAVEL. GND TFC CONDITIONS AT THE TIME WERE VERY LIGHT.
