Narrative:
Flight at 230 KTS to cross gland intersection at 9000 ft. Then the controller told us to still maintain 230 KTS in the descent but to cross 8 mi southwest of gland intersection. While considering descent angles, we didn't enter the descent altitude in the afcs, we did enter the crossing altitude, 9000 ft in the GPS. We couldn't understand why the VNAV information was displaying incorrect information. Center did not give local altimeter setting. We descended below 9000 ft -- actually to 8700 ft, then climbed back to 9200 ft, then got the correct altimeter setting.

Title: ALTDEV.
Narrative: FLT AT 230 KTS TO CROSS GLAND INTXN AT 9000 FT. THEN THE CTLR TOLD US TO STILL MAINTAIN 230 KTS IN THE DSCNT BUT TO CROSS 8 MI SW OF GLAND INTXN. WHILE CONSIDERING DSCNT ANGLES, WE DIDN'T ENTER THE DSCNT ALT IN THE AFCS, WE DID ENTER THE XING ALT, 9000 FT IN THE GPS. WE COULDN'T UNDERSTAND WHY THE VNAV INFO WAS DISPLAYING INCORRECT INFO. CTR DID NOT GIVE LCL ALTIMETER SETTING. WE DSNDED BELOW 9000 FT -- ACTUALLY TO 8700 FT, THEN CLBED BACK TO 9200 FT, THEN GOT THE CORRECT ALTIMETER SETTING.
