Narrative:
During taxi, computer problem arose. I helped the first officer correct the problem. This diverted my attention from correct taxi route and I found myself taxiing across a parallel runway when I returned attention to taxi route. Factors for me include trying to be helpful to new first officer, making sure performance in computer was correct for a shortened runway, allowing my attention to divert during critical period and falling back into old habit pattern in reference to taxi route which had changed in the recent yr.

Title: UNAUTH RWY XING.
Narrative: DURING TAXI, COMPUTER PROB AROSE. I HELPED THE FO CORRECT THE PROB. THIS DIVERTED MY ATTN FROM CORRECT TAXI RTE AND I FOUND MYSELF TAXIING ACROSS A PARALLEL RWY WHEN I RETURNED ATTN TO TAXI RTE. FACTORS FOR ME INCLUDE TRYING TO BE HELPFUL TO NEW FO, MAKING SURE PERFORMANCE IN COMPUTER WAS CORRECT FOR A SHORTENED RWY, ALLOWING MY ATTN TO DIVERT DURING CRITICAL PERIOD AND FALLING BACK INTO OLD HABIT PATTERN IN REF TO TAXI RTE WHICH HAD CHANGED IN THE RECENT YR.
