Narrative:
On departure climb from smf, per clearance turned right to a 210 degree heading. Out of 1000 ft continued right turn to 300 degree heading and continued our climb to FL350. Out of 3000 ft the controller asked if we forgot to level off at 2000 ft. Rechked the clearance received from smf ground -- no 2000 ft restr copied or read back. Set FL350 in altitude alerter on the ground. During our clearance receipt, several problems were going on and the cockpit workload was extremely heavy. However, clearance readback had no restr and was not corrected by the ground controller. Departure controller said no conflict occurred.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: CLRNC DISPUTED -- ALT RESTR.
Narrative: ON DEP CLB FROM SMF, PER CLRNC TURNED R TO A 210 DEG HDG. OUT OF 1000 FT CONTINUED R TURN TO 300 DEG HDG AND CONTINUED OUR CLB TO FL350. OUT OF 3000 FT THE CTLR ASKED IF WE FORGOT TO LEVEL OFF AT 2000 FT. RECHKED THE CLRNC RECEIVED FROM SMF GND -- NO 2000 FT RESTR COPIED OR READ BACK. SET FL350 IN ALT ALERTER ON THE GND. DURING OUR CLRNC RECEIPT, SEVERAL PROBS WERE GOING ON AND THE COCKPIT WORKLOAD WAS EXTREMELY HVY. HOWEVER, CLRNC READBACK HAD NO RESTR AND WAS NOT CORRECTED BY THE GND CTLR. DEP CTLR SAID NO CONFLICT OCCURRED.
