Narrative:
Upon departure from clt, nc, flight bound for cvg, the main landing gear would not retract. After returning to clt, it was discovered the main gear pins were installed. I did not notice that the pins were installed. During my preflight inspection of the wheel well areas, nor were they removed by ramp personnel after repositioning the aircraft on the gate. Pins were not noticed by ramp personnel during taxi out.
