Narrative:
Right after liftoff from las, we experienced a loud rapid banging noise in the cockpit. Noise was very loud and disconcerting. Tower gave us a frequency change to departure control, which we acknowledged. Due to the workload in trying to ascertain the nature of the noise, our contact with departure control was delayed about a min. We continued to sfo for an emergency landing after consulting with maintenance.
