Narrative:
Bird strike. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: reporter stated that the bird strike occurred early evening during a visual approach to smf at approximately 1500 ft. The bird struck the upper portion of the cockpit top causing no damage. The flight continued to landing without further incident. The aircraft was a super MD80. Insufficient time for evasive action.

Title: BIRD STRIKE ON AN MLG DSNDING TO LAND.
Narrative: BIRD STRIKE. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: RPTR STATED THAT THE BIRD STRIKE OCCURRED EARLY EVENING DURING A VISUAL APCH TO SMF AT APPROX 1500 FT. THE BIRD STRUCK THE UPPER PORTION OF THE COCKPIT TOP CAUSING NO DAMAGE. THE FLT CONTINUED TO LNDG WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. THE ACFT WAS A SUPER MD80. INSUFFICIENT TIME FOR EVASIVE ACTION.
