Narrative:
Nice day -- departed dutch harbor northbound for anchorage original intention to pick-up IFR en route from center. Talked to company aircraft approximately 150 NM ahead and he was maintaining VFR at 15500 ft doing acceptable ground speeds. Leveled off at 15500 ft checked ground speed and fuel and decided to remain VFR -- squawking 1200 altitude on. Just simply forgot that I needed to file a DVFR on this route (usually flown on IFR clearance) approximately abeam, cdb, another company flight notified me ATC was trying to determine identity of 1200 squawk in cdb area -- called cdb FSS gave them current position and realized that I screwed up -- filed a VFR/DVFR at this time, and asked cdb to apologize to zan and elmendorf AFB region controller center. Cdb assigned squawk and I proceeded to anc VFR with no further problems. On arrival at company operations in anc ( called elmerdorf and talked to 'senior director') received message to call and also chief pilot -- explained to both situation. Simply an oversight problem -- very familiar with DVFR procedures as pilot and also retired airforce radar operations specialist.

Title: RPTR ERROR ADMITTED IN NOT FILING A DVFR FLT PLAN WITH CTR.
Narrative: NICE DAY -- DEPARTED DUTCH HARBOR NBOUND FOR ANCHORAGE ORIGINAL INTENTION TO PICK-UP IFR ENRTE FROM CTR. TALKED TO COMPANY ACFT APPROX 150 NM AHEAD AND HE WAS MAINTAINING VFR AT 15500 FT DOING ACCEPTABLE GND SPDS. LEVELED OFF AT 15500 FT CHKED GND SPD AND FUEL AND DECIDED TO REMAIN VFR -- SQUAWKING 1200 ALT ON. JUST SIMPLY FORGOT THAT I NEEDED TO FILE A DVFR ON THIS RTE (USUALLY FLOWN ON IFR CLRNC) APPROX ABEAM, CDB, ANOTHER COMPANY FLT NOTIFIED ME ATC WAS TRYING TO DETERMINE IDENTITY OF 1200 SQUAWK IN CDB AREA -- CALLED CDB FSS GAVE THEM CURRENT POS AND REALIZED THAT I SCREWED UP -- FILED A VFR/DVFR AT THIS TIME, AND ASKED CDB TO APOLOGIZE TO ZAN AND ELMENDORF AFB REGION CTLR CTR. CDB ASSIGNED SQUAWK AND I PROCEEDED TO ANC VFR WITH NO FURTHER PROBS. ON ARR AT COMPANY OPS IN ANC ( CALLED ELMERDORF AND TALKED TO 'SENIOR DIRECTOR') RECEIVED MESSAGE TO CALL AND ALSO CHIEF PLT -- EXPLAINED TO BOTH SIT. SIMPLY AN OVERSIGHT PROB -- VERY FAMILIAR WITH DVFR PROCS AS PLT AND ALSO RETIRED AIRFORCE RADAR OPS SPECIALIST.
