Narrative:
On feb/fri/95, I received a call from airport terminal maintenance. Aircraft inbound was experiencing problems with captain's side, mach indicator. Problem: captain's mach and vmo flags show intermittent, in flight. Placarded under MEL number and control number. The problem was placarded under wrong MEL, should have been another MEL number, which was a legal placard.
