Narrative:

As I taxied out for takeoff on my second leg of the X country flight, I noticed my nose gear was shimmying, and it felt awkward, so I taxied back and had a mechanic inspect it. He stated that the ball-bearings were destroyed and it needed to be replaced prior to takeoff. My flight school flew in a new tire with ball bearings and the mechanic fixed the problem. Therefore, I continued on my cross country to galesburg and then home. Galesburg is about 30 mi from peoria and the flight home was 115 NM from there. Unaware of the mechanical problem that occurred (slightly bent nose strut), I continued my flight, thinking that the aircraft had been approved and returned to service since the mechanic told me that aircraft was finished.

UNAWARE OF THE MECHANICAL PROB THAT OCCURRED (SLIGHTLY BENT NOSE STRUT), I CONTINUED MY FLT, THINKING THAT THE ACFT HAD BEEN APPROVED AND RETURNED TO SVC SINCE THE MECH TOLD ME THAT ACFT WAS FINISHED.
