Narrative:
Exercised emergency authority/authorized for WX avoidance. Heavy thunderstorm activity on R-465 northeast of cluts intersection. Had 20 mi deviation clearance from ATC, but needed an additional 15 mi. Unable to communication with hnl radio on HF due to electrical disturbance from thunderstorm. Exercised emergency authority/authorized to deviate as necessary. Advised other aircraft of intentions on 121.5. Returned to airway at cheak intersection communication established on 4F. ATC and company dispatch advised of actions taken. Atl advised no action required by other aircraft.
