Narrative:
First officer was flying and refused to comply with ATC's numerous requests for faster rate of descent. First officer also refused to acknowledge captain when he requested for an increased descent rate as well. Captain let first officer fly until controller used words 'immediately' to command for lower at which time captain took control and descended aircraft to requested altitude. I believe problem could have been avoided if first officer would have 1) planned earlier and better, 2) listened to ATC and responded, 3) listened to captain and responded. As the captain I put more faith in the first officer's planning and flying skills due to the fact that he had over 500 hours in the aircraft. In retrospect, I was informed by company that they felt it may have been a judgement error to do this. I disagree. I honestly believe the best way to correct this situation is to remove this first officer from flight duty. My opinion have been stressed to the company. My reasons are: poor attitude, insubordination, lack of respect for ATC, lack of desire to comply with ATC, lack of desire to comply with captain requests.

Title: FO OF ATX JET IS SLOW IN DSNDING RESULTING IN ATC INTERVENTION AND THE CAP TAKING ACFT CTL TO COMPLY WITH THE CLRNC RESTR.

CAPT LET FO FLY UNTIL CTLR USED WORDS 'IMMEDIATELY' TO COMMAND FOR LOWER AT WHICH TIME CAPT TOOK CTL AND DSNDED ACFT TO REQUESTED ALT. AS THE CAPT I PUT MORE FAITH IN THE FO'S PLANNING AND FLYING SKILLS DUE TO THE FACT THAT HE HAD OVER 500 HRS IN THE ACFT. IN RETROSPECT, I WAS INFORMED BY COMPANY THAT THEY FELT IT MAY HAVE BEEN A JUDGEMENT ERROR TO DO THIS. I DISAGREE. I HONESTLY BELIEVE THE BEST WAY TO CORRECT THIS SIT IS TO REMOVE THIS FO FROM FLIGHT DUTY. MY OPINION HAVE BEEN STRESSED TO THE COMPANY. MY REASONS ARE: POOR ATTITUDE, INSUBORDINATION, LACK OF RESPECT FOR ATC, LACK OF DESIRE TO COMPLY WITH ATC, LACK OF DESIRE TO COMPLY WITH CAPT REQUESTS.
