Climbed through assigned altitude. Assigned 23000 ft climbed to 23400 ft. Noticed excursion and returned to the assigned altitude. Altitude alerter aural indication brought excursion to both pilots' attention. Contributing to this excursion: lack of sleep due to cold, 7 out of 8 previous days on duty.

Narrative: CLBED THROUGH ASSIGNED ALT. ASSIGNED 23000 FT CLBED TO 23400 FT. NOTICED EXCURSION AND RETURNED TO THE ASSIGNED ALT. ALT ALERTER AURAL INDICATION BROUGHT EXCURSION TO BOTH PLTS' ATTN. CONTRIBUTING TO THIS EXCURSION: LACK OF SLEEP DUE TO COLD, 7 OUT OF 8 PREVIOUS DAYS ON DUTY.
