Narrative:
On departure from oakland international airport we were assigned 250 KTS airspeed restr until further advised. After leaving 10000 ft MSL the first officer, who was flying the aircraft, accelerated to 300 KTS, inadvertently, while I was on the company radio frequency discussing our departure delay. Bay departure control questioned our airspeed and we immediately discovered our error and reduced to 250 KTS. Next time I'll remember to maintain aircraft control and insure the departure is being flown correctly before worrying about company business.
