Narrative:

We were cruising at FL240, (on course centerline), all of a sudden the captain turned 45 degrees to the right. I asked him what he was doing. He said 'I am checking something.' as we approached 3 mi to the right of centerline according to the omega navigation system, I advised the captain that we were about to exceed the limits of the airway. He told me to stand by -- that he was checking something. As we exceeded the limits of the airway, paris center called us, and said we were off course, and to confirm our airway and clearance. At that time the captain turned 70 degrees to the left, and got back on course. He never explained to me, what he was checking.
