Narrative:
Air carrier flight xx scheduled service to fresno, ca, primary airport on mar/xx/95. WX VFR was cleared for a left downwind for a visual approach to runway 11. ATC advised us of the king air and to turn behind the aircraft for a visual approach. We idented the aircraft and proceeded to follow for runway 11L. The tower advised of an additional aircraft in the pattern and we also idented that aircraft. We were cleared to land and proceeded to land on runway 11L. Once on the ground ATC informed us that we were cleared to land on the runway 11R and not on runway 11L. As first officer I contend between searching for the aircraft and the workload. The captain and I missed the call issued by ATC and assumed a clearance was received to land on the longer more common runway. The transmission by ATC may have been blocked or we simply missed it. In any case I have learned a valuable lesson and from now on the landing runway will be stated with any landing clearance. There was not any conflict with any traffic at any time. The mistake was without incident and the captain discussed the mishap with the tower.
