Narrative:
After landing and while taxiing to parking at smo, ground control said to hold position for departing helicopter about 300-400 ft ahead. When I informed ground that we were not going toward the helicopter, but the other way, ground controller became extremely angry that I should have any say in the matter. Ground control asked for our full n-number and told us to call the tower even though we had held our position when told to do so. It seems the controller became extremely upset when we were merely trying to help make her job easier by informing her of our requested direction of taxi.

Title: A GND CTLR BECAME UPSET WHEN A PLT OF A LIGHT ACFT QUESTIONED THE CTLR'S CLRNC.
Narrative: AFTER LNDG AND WHILE TAXIING TO PARKING AT SMO, GND CTL SAID TO HOLD POS FOR DEPARTING HELI ABOUT 300-400 FT AHEAD. WHEN I INFORMED GND THAT WE WERE NOT GOING TOWARD THE HELI, BUT THE OTHER WAY, GND CTLR BECAME EXTREMELY ANGRY THAT I SHOULD HAVE ANY SAY IN THE MATTER. GND CTL ASKED FOR OUR FULL N-NUMBER AND TOLD US TO CALL THE TWR EVEN THOUGH WE HAD HELD OUR POS WHEN TOLD TO DO SO. IT SEEMS THE CTLR BECAME EXTREMELY UPSET WHEN WE WERE MERELY TRYING TO HELP MAKE HER JOB EASIER BY INFORMING HER OF OUR REQUESTED DIRECTION OF TAXI.
