Narrative:

While en route from gge to rdu, nc, using a 612C, a pollo LORAN, I flew into restr airspace R-5311 abc in fay, nc. Upon approaching fay, I was VFR at 5500 ft MSL when I encountered a broken cloud cover at about 4500 ft. I looked for a hole in the cloud cover and saw one over to my left. I estimated that this was when I entered the restr airspace. I was not aware until I landed at rdu that I had violated the restr airspace. I was told to call range control which I did at raleigh. Looking back on this problem, I feel that had I also been using my navigation communications along with the LORAN that this would not have happened. Note: range control told me the airspace was active at time of intrusion.
