Narrative:
Student familiarization in PH28/200 entering traffic pattern downwind runway 9. Did not allow for wind drift, turned downwind over the active runway instead of 1/4 mi right of runway. Traffic inbound for final runway 9. Traffic taking off. No conflict, but could have been. Prevention: more aware of wind.
