Narrative:
Upon application of takeoff power, #3 generator dropped off line. Takeoff was aborted. Maximum speed reached was 20 KTS. Aircraft on final approach to same runway was sent around. We cleared the runway approximately 2000 ft from the threshold at taxiway T4. After resetting the generator and analyzing the problem, we determined that another takeoff was appropriate. Flight control was notified and the remainder of the flight was uneventful. Supplemental information from acn 301046: minimum braking necessary. Reset #3 generator, all engine generator volts, frequency, and kilovolt meters were normal. No history of any electrical problems. Considering the above, my crew and I decided another takeoff was appropriate.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: A TKOF WAS REJECTED AFTER A GENERATOR TRIPPED OFF-LINE. TKOF PWR HAD BEEN APPLIED, AND MAX SPD DID NOT EXCEED 20 KTS.
Narrative: UPON APPLICATION OF TKOF PWR, #3 GENERATOR DROPPED OFF LINE. TKOF WAS ABORTED. MAX SPD REACHED WAS 20 KTS. ACFT ON FINAL APCH TO SAME RWY WAS SENT AROUND. WE CLRED THE RWY APPROX 2000 FT FROM THE THRESHOLD AT TXWY T4. AFTER RESETTING THE GENERATOR AND ANALYZING THE PROB, WE DETERMINED THAT ANOTHER TKOF WAS APPROPRIATE. FLT CTL WAS NOTIFIED AND THE REMAINDER OF THE FLT WAS UNEVENTFUL. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 301046: MINIMUM BRAKING NECESSARY. RESET #3 GENERATOR, ALL ENG GENERATOR VOLTS, FREQ, AND KILOVOLT METERS WERE NORMAL. NO HISTORY OF ANY ELECTRICAL PROBS. CONSIDERING THE ABOVE, MY CREW AND I DECIDED ANOTHER TKOF WAS APPROPRIATE.
