Narrative:
I, the first officer, was making the takeoff and prior to V1 the captain assumed control of the aircraft and aborted the takeoff. After clearing the runway he explained that he noticed a power surge and #1 generator fault. Upon exiting the runway, tower stated that they saw smoke from the right side landing gear. We requested arff. They determined that there was no fire, but that 2 of the tires had gone flat. The passenger were deplaned using the 'people movers.' emergency evacuate/evacuation slides were not used.
