Narrative:
On postflt inspection at clt first officer discovered damage to trailing edge of left wingtip. Damage was very difficult to spot from ground but was discernable from jetbridge stairs. I believe the damage occurred while sitting on dfw gate 2 at or around XA15 to XA25 CDT. At that time while sitting in flight deck we felt a bump similar to what you get when a belt loader is removed from under an aircraft door till after the plane has settled onto it. I asked the first officer to go outside and look for damage around the cargo doors. He found none and later recalled that, when asked, the ground crew said, it didn't come from here. Believing there to be no damage we departed gate and had an uneventful flight to clt.
