Narrative:

During taxi out prior to takeoff from lee C. Fine memorial airport (aiz), I was unable to activate the pilot controled runway lights using the procedure outlined in the commercial airway manual. Since a full moon was out and all aircraft lights were operational, more than adequate forward visibility was available for a safe takeoff and departure. After departure I was going to report the lighting problem, when I found out the lights were OTS because the airport was closed from sunset to sunrise daily. I feel this situation came about partly because the commercial manual indicates lights were available (I have contacted company to make the appropriate changes to the airport data) and my not consulting the airport facility directory to verify the availability of lights and hours of operation of the airport. Also I think that the airport itself could post the airport operational hours somewhere near the ramp area, so transient pilots might be more informed about the airport curfew. In the future I will consult the airport facility directory to verify information contained in my commercial manual so an occurrence like this will not happen again.

Title: TKOF FROM CLOSED ARPT.

Narrative: DURING TAXI OUT PRIOR TO TKOF FROM LEE C. FINE MEMORIAL ARPT (AIZ), I WAS UNABLE TO ACTIVATE THE PLT CTLED RWY LIGHTS USING THE PROC OUTLINED IN THE COMMERCIAL AIRWAY MANUAL. SINCE A FULL MOON WAS OUT AND ALL ACFT LIGHTS WERE OPERATIONAL, MORE THAN ADEQUATE FORWARD VISIBILITY WAS AVAILABLE FOR A SAFE TKOF AND DEP. AFTER DEP I WAS GOING TO RPT THE LIGHTING PROB, WHEN I FOUND OUT THE LIGHTS WERE OTS BECAUSE THE ARPT WAS CLOSED FROM SUNSET TO SUNRISE DAILY. I FEEL THIS SIT CAME ABOUT PARTLY BECAUSE THE COMMERCIAL MANUAL INDICATES LIGHTS WERE AVAILABLE (I HAVE CONTACTED COMPANY TO MAKE THE APPROPRIATE CHANGES TO THE ARPT DATA) AND MY NOT CONSULTING THE ARPT FACILITY DIRECTORY TO VERIFY THE AVAILABILITY OF LIGHTS AND HRS OF OP OF THE ARPT. ALSO I THINK THAT THE ARPT ITSELF COULD POST THE ARPT OPERATIONAL HRS SOMEWHERE NEAR THE RAMP AREA, SO TRANSIENT PLTS MIGHT BE MORE INFORMED ABOUT THE ARPT CURFEW. IN THE FUTURE I WILL CONSULT THE ARPT FACILITY DIRECTORY TO VERIFY INFO CONTAINED IN MY COMMERCIAL MANUAL SO AN OCCURRENCE LIKE THIS WILL NOT HAPPEN AGAIN.
