Narrative:
Confused aircraft call signs - took heading and altitude change for air carrier-baoa (our call air carrier-aoa). Heading diverged 25-30 degrees and altitude change 9000-8600 ft (400 ft) before the mistake was caught. Immediately returned to course and previously assigned altitude and confirmed this with phx approach control.
Original NASA ASRS Text
