Narrative:
With an aircraft just turning off the active runway and an aircraft on short final the tower cleared us for an immediate takeoff no delay - but part of the transmission was blocked by another aircraft. On departure control, ATC asked if we had been given a turn, our reply was that the transmission was blocked and that the tower was extremely busy with aircraft on the runway and one on short final. No conflicts during the event! Supplemental information from acn 302786: ATC cleared flight # for takeoff runway 09R traffic on short final, no delay. After contacting departure ATC asked if tower had given us a 180 degree heading we replied that tower was quite busy and we did not hear it or was blocked by an aircraft calling short final.
