Narrative:
We were cleared to land lax 25L with normal tower communications. After clearing runway 25L, holding short of runway 25R on tango, I noticed tower frequency unusually quiet with no observed traffic. I reported on 120.95 (tower frequency) holding short and no response was received. I then heard our callsign 'air carrier X' called three times but tower apparently could not hear our reply. A broken transmission was received 'air carrier X...cleared cross...' I read back the crossing clearance and visually checked for traffic with none observed. Normal communication was restored while crossing. Tower canceled takeoff clearance for another aircraft and ask air carrier X to call on landline.

Title: LAX LCL CTLR CANCELS TKOF CLRNC OF ACFT IN POSITION WHEN B747 ASSUMES BROKEN TRANSMISSION APPROVES THEIR RWY XING.
Narrative: WE WERE CLRED TO LAND LAX 25L WITH NORMAL TWR COMS. AFTER CLEARING RWY 25L, HOLDING SHORT OF RWY 25R ON TANGO, I NOTICED TWR FREQ UNUSUALLY QUIET WITH NO OBSERVED TFC. I RPTED ON 120.95 (TWR FREQ) HOLDING SHORT AND NO RESPONSE WAS RECEIVED. I THEN HEARD OUR CALLSIGN 'ACR X' CALLED THREE TIMES BUT TWR APPARENTLY COULD NOT HEAR OUR REPLY. A BROKEN XMISSION WAS RECEIVED 'ACR X...CLRED CROSS...' I READ BACK THE XING CLRNC AND VISUALLY CHECKED FOR TFC WITH NONE OBSERVED. NORMAL COM WAS RESTORED WHILE XING. TWR CANCELED TKOF CLRNC FOR ANOTHER ACFT AND ASK ACR X TO CALL ON LANDLINE.
