Narrative:
Aircraft cleared to 4000 ft. Private PF with instructor in right seat. Instructor distracted by high oil temperature on left engine and PF passed assigned altitude by 500 ft. Jet vectored behind us because of altitude. Instructor corrected altitude and saw jet but there was no real conflict. Controller could have advised aircraft of missed altitude sooner. Instructor will have to be more alert when training.
