Narrative:
On approach to sav airport at approximately 700 ft AGL, the cockpit crew thinks they hit a bird. On the ground at sav some blood spots and feathers were noticed on the underside right wing flap area. With no damage to aircraft, captain notified dispatcher, hwo completed bird strike report, and flight departed sav. En route, captain noticed in safety magazine it required his report to have page number of logbook entry. The captain being new in left seat immediately called dispatch upon arrival clt and captain dispatch technician foreman discussed problem to find out logbook entry should have been made in sav and contract maintenance called to inspect aircraft for damage. Dispatcher, thinking captain had checked aircraft and no damage noticed did not realize contract maintenance had to be called. Logbook entry was made and aircraft inspected in clt. Both the captain and dispatch though that there being no damage to aircraft it would be ok to operate safely to clt where we have regular air carrier mechanics.
