Narrative:
Departure control vector outbound to intercept SID aimed us at incoming traffic. Captain flying engaged autoplt to watch for incoming traffic. As aircraft leveled at 10000 ft MSL, it ballooned 200 ft due to excessive rate of climb (in excess of 4000 FPM) because aircraft was so light. Captain had to manually push forward on controls to level at 10000 ft to avoid excessive altitude. TCASII alert was also going off as aircraft leveled. Other airplane was in sight throughout leveloff phase. No conflict was experienced, but it was an unusual occurrence of autoflt system exhibiting poor airmanship. We were fortunate to be watching the 'store,' but could've probably reacted faster. Lesson learned here was to stay on top of automated system!

Title: ALTDEV OVERSHOOT ON CLBOUT.
Narrative: DEP CTL VECTOR OUTBOUND TO INTERCEPT SID AIMED US AT INCOMING TFC. CAPT FLYING ENGAGED AUTOPLT TO WATCH FOR INCOMING TFC. AS ACFT LEVELED AT 10000 FT MSL, IT BALLOONED 200 FT DUE TO EXCESSIVE RATE OF CLB (IN EXCESS OF 4000 FPM) BECAUSE ACFT WAS SO LIGHT. CAPT HAD TO MANUALLY PUSH FORWARD ON CTLS TO LEVEL AT 10000 FT TO AVOID EXCESSIVE ALT. TCASII ALERT WAS ALSO GOING OFF AS ACFT LEVELED. OTHER AIRPLANE WAS IN SIGHT THROUGHOUT LEVELOFF PHASE. NO CONFLICT WAS EXPERIENCED, BUT IT WAS AN UNUSUAL OCCURRENCE OF AUTOFLT SYS EXHIBITING POOR AIRMANSHIP. WE WERE FORTUNATE TO BE WATCHING THE 'STORE,' BUT COULD'VE PROBABLY REACTED FASTER. LESSON LEARNED HERE WAS TO STAY ON TOP OF AUTOMATED SYS!
