Narrative:
Controller that told us to switch queried us as to where we were when we requested direct pmm. When we switched to ZAU 127.62, he asked us where we had been for the last 70 mi and we told him we had just been handed off when we checked in with him. He said the previous controller tried to get ahold of us, yet neither crew member heard any xmissions on part of ATC to get ahold of us. Supplemental information from acn 303976: the entire time, we were flying along our flight planned route (which is what we had been given as a clearance).
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: REPEATED ATTEMPTS BY ATC TO CONTACT COMMUTER FLC WERE UNSUCCESSFUL. THE FLC CONTACTED ATC REQUESTING A NEW CLRNC. ATC ASKED THE FLC WHERE THEY HAD BEEN. THE FLC'S DESCRIPTION OF THE EVENT IS INCONCLUSIVE.
