Narrative:

During scheduled flight from gso to cle all radio communications were normal. Upon reaching the tvt VOR at FL240 the aircraft was turned outbound on the 031 degree radial per the ritzs 1 arrival. Our clearance limit was the ritzs intersection, 37 DME on the 031 degree radial of tvt. We were expecting descent to cross ritzs at 10000 ft MSL. We could hear center talking to other aircraft. We tried numerous times to contact on last given frequency but received no answer. At that time cle approach was contacted as we approached ritzs and a clearance to turn to 090 degrees and descend to 12000 ft MSL was issued. The aircraft did not exceed the clearance limit prior to receiving the new clearance. Both radios appeared to be working normally. I believe center did not affect a handoff to TRACON and then was unable to do so for reasons unknown. If no clearance had been received by ritzs we would have entered the published holding pattern until establishing radio communication with ATC. Also ACARS was operating normally. Supplemental information from acn 304701: all radios were normal, 2 VHF's also 1 ACARS. After trying on both radios we got ahold of cle approach and were able to start with descent and approach.

Title: AN ACR FLC DISCOVERED LOST COM WHEN APCHING THE CLRNC LIMIT ON A PUBLISHED ARR. WHEN CONTACT ON THE LAST ASSIGNED FREQ WAS UNSUCCESSFUL, THE FLC ESTABLISHED COM WITH APCH CTL, AND THE FLT CONTINUED UNEVENTFULLY.

Narrative: DURING SCHEDULED FLT FROM GSO TO CLE ALL RADIO COMS WERE NORMAL. UPON REACHING THE TVT VOR AT FL240 THE ACFT WAS TURNED OUTBOUND ON THE 031 DEG RADIAL PER THE RITZS 1 ARR. OUR CLRNC LIMIT WAS THE RITZS INTXN, 37 DME ON THE 031 DEG RADIAL OF TVT. WE WERE EXPECTING DSCNT TO CROSS RITZS AT 10000 FT MSL. WE COULD HEAR CTR TALKING TO OTHER ACFT. WE TRIED NUMEROUS TIMES TO CONTACT ON LAST GIVEN FREQ BUT RECEIVED NO ANSWER. AT THAT TIME CLE APCH WAS CONTACTED AS WE APCHED RITZS AND A CLRNC TO TURN TO 090 DEGS AND DSND TO 12000 FT MSL WAS ISSUED. THE ACFT DID NOT EXCEED THE CLRNC LIMIT PRIOR TO RECEIVING THE NEW CLRNC. BOTH RADIOS APPEARED TO BE WORKING NORMALLY. I BELIEVE CTR DID NOT AFFECT A HDOF TO TRACON AND THEN WAS UNABLE TO DO SO FOR REASONS UNKNOWN. IF NO CLRNC HAD BEEN RECEIVED BY RITZS WE WOULD HAVE ENTERED THE PUBLISHED HOLDING PATTERN UNTIL ESTABLISHING RADIO COM WITH ATC. ALSO ACARS WAS OPERATING NORMALLY. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 304701: ALL RADIOS WERE NORMAL, 2 VHF'S ALSO 1 ACARS. AFTER TRYING ON BOTH RADIOS WE GOT AHOLD OF CLE APCH AND WERE ABLE TO START WITH DSCNT AND APCH.
