Narrative:
Air carrier X cleared for takeoff on runway 5L but the tower called us the wrong flight number. The captain started rolling the airplane while I called to verify that it was us they cleared for takeoff. Getting no response the captain stopped the plane about 60 ft ahead of the hold short line. The tower called us and asked if we were on the runway and I told them we were over the hold short line. The tower cleared us for immediate takeoff. We looked to our left and saw a dc-9 on a 1 mi final. I called the tower and told them that it doesn't look safe and we were going to stay where we are. The tower asked again were we on the runway and again I replied that we were over the hold short line. This put the nose of our airplane just about at the edge of the runway. The tower allowed the dc-9 to land with us sitting where we were.
