Narrative:

From FL220, center issued us clearance to cross majic intersection (clt 039 degree radial, 40 DME) at 11000 ft and 250 KTS. Captain flying, I worked radios. Captain began descent as soon as we got clearance. During descent we were told to slow to 250 KIAS. Captain slowed to 250 KTS and continued descent. I don't know what the captain was thinking, but I sure wasn't watching his profile closely enough. At 47 DME, controller asked us to verify we were at 250 KIAS. I answered affirmative. He then asked if we would make majic intersection at 11000 ft. As I glanced down and noted 46.5 DME and 16500 ft, oops! I told him I didn't think we could make it and asked if he would like for us to make a 360 degree turn. He asked what kind of rate of descent we could do and I told him about 4000 FPM. He said that would be ok. We actually were able to do about 5000-5500 FPM descent at 250 KTS with speed brake out. As it turned out, we made the crossing restr at 11000 ft, 250 KTS with 0.2 DME to spare! Big thanks to the ZTL controller for providing a wake-up call. A little more awareness on my part certainly would have helped.

Title: ALT XING RESTR. THE CTLR ASKED IF THE FLC WERE GOING TO MAKE THEIR XING RESTR AND THEY DID. NOTHING HAPPENED HERE EXCEPT, PERHAPS, A STEEPER THAN NORMAL DSCNT.
