Narrative:

I was captain of air carrier flight X taxiing for takeoff at bwi. I was southeast on parallel to runway 33R/15L. Taxiway continued across runway 4/22. My intended taxi route was to turn right to taxi on parallel to runway 4/22. I missed the turn slightly and had to turn hard right to make taxiway. Aircraft passed over hold line for runway 4/22, but did not get onto runway 4/22. If there was a runway sign, I did not see it or a taxiway sign. I was confused by a sign off to my right for inner taxiway. I thought that the runway was the outer taxiway. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter stated he was taxiing a boeing 727-200. He was trying to be extra careful taxiing as he had a taxi problem 16 hours earlier. He said he felt he had adequate crew rest and that fatigue was not a factor in this case. Night time added to the problem but mainly the taxiway signs were located farther back and not readily apparent. The tower cautioned about taxiway lights being out in various areas along route to taxi out. Also, the taxiway is extremely wide in the area where taxiway a intersects the runway 4/22 parallel taxiway along the ramp. There have been no complaints from the tower or the FAA regarding this incident. Today was his first time into this airport.

Title: FLC INADVERTENTLY CROSSED THE RWY HOLD SHORT LINE.

Narrative: I WAS CAPT OF ACR FLT X TAXIING FOR TKOF AT BWI. I WAS SE ON PARALLEL TO RWY 33R/15L. TXWY CONTINUED ACROSS RWY 4/22. MY INTENDED TAXI RTE WAS TO TURN R TO TAXI ON PARALLEL TO RWY 4/22. I MISSED THE TURN SLIGHTLY AND HAD TO TURN HARD R TO MAKE TXWY. ACFT PASSED OVER HOLD LINE FOR RWY 4/22, BUT DID NOT GET ONTO RWY 4/22. IF THERE WAS A RWY SIGN, I DID NOT SEE IT OR A TXWY SIGN. I WAS CONFUSED BY A SIGN OFF TO MY R FOR INNER TXWY. I THOUGHT THAT THE RWY WAS THE OUTER TXWY. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE RPTR STATED HE WAS TAXIING A BOEING 727-200. HE WAS TRYING TO BE EXTRA CAREFUL TAXIING AS HE HAD A TAXI PROB 16 HRS EARLIER. HE SAID HE FELT HE HAD ADEQUATE CREW REST AND THAT FATIGUE WAS NOT A FACTOR IN THIS CASE. NIGHT TIME ADDED TO THE PROB BUT MAINLY THE TXWY SIGNS WERE LOCATED FARTHER BACK AND NOT READILY APPARENT. THE TWR CAUTIONED ABOUT TXWY LIGHTS BEING OUT IN VARIOUS AREAS ALONG RTE TO TAXI OUT. ALSO, THE TXWY IS EXTREMELY WIDE IN THE AREA WHERE TXWY A INTERSECTS THE RWY 4/22 PARALLEL TXWY ALONG THE RAMP. THERE HAVE BEEN NO COMPLAINTS FROM THE TWR OR THE FAA REGARDING THIS INCIDENT. TODAY WAS HIS FIRST TIME INTO THIS ARPT.
