Narrative:

Contributing factor, first time to airport. As I was turning from downwind to left base I did not want to drop the landing gear until I had passed over span wire that crosses over the base leg. After crossing over the span wire I looked down field at the runway and noticed people on the field flying radio controled planes. I continued my downward descent onto final ensuring that there would be plenty of separation between myself and those on the field. I continued down into ground effect at which time the alarm went off as I made contact with the ground. Then realizing that the landing gear had not been cycled.
