Narrative:
I was the first officer at the time of this event and also the PF, and the captain was the PNF. We were executing the ILS runway 27L approach at sbn airport. RVR at the time was reported at 3500 ft. We proceeded down to decision ht, and shortly before arriving there, the captain reported the lead-in lights in sight. Shortly after passing decision ht, we lost visual contact and executed a missed approach. After beginning the missed approach we received no missed approach instructions from ATC. The published missed approach procedure is to climb to 1200 ft and then turn right and continue climbing to 2300 ft direct to gij VOR and hold. During the missed approach, we continued climbing on runway heading to about 3500 ft, at which point the tower instructed us to maintain 3000 ft and turn to heading 360 degrees. At the time of initial climb out, the PNF was attending to a power surge on the right engine which momentarily exceeded takeoff limitations. The aircraft was climbing in excess of 2000 FPM at the time.

Title: FLC DEVIATED FROM PUBLISHED MISSED APCH PROC.
Narrative: I WAS THE FO AT THE TIME OF THIS EVENT AND ALSO THE PF, AND THE CAPT WAS THE PNF. WE WERE EXECUTING THE ILS RWY 27L APCH AT SBN ARPT. RVR AT THE TIME WAS RPTED AT 3500 FT. WE PROCEEDED DOWN TO DECISION HT, AND SHORTLY BEFORE ARRIVING THERE, THE CAPT RPTED THE LEAD-IN LIGHTS IN SIGHT. SHORTLY AFTER PASSING DECISION HT, WE LOST VISUAL CONTACT AND EXECUTED A MISSED APCH. AFTER BEGINNING THE MISSED APCH WE RECEIVED NO MISSED APCH INSTRUCTIONS FROM ATC. THE PUBLISHED MISSED APCH PROC IS TO CLB TO 1200 FT AND THEN TURN R AND CONTINUE CLBING TO 2300 FT DIRECT TO GIJ VOR AND HOLD. DURING THE MISSED APCH, WE CONTINUED CLBING ON RWY HDG TO ABOUT 3500 FT, AT WHICH POINT THE TWR INSTRUCTED US TO MAINTAIN 3000 FT AND TURN TO HDG 360 DEGS. AT THE TIME OF INITIAL CLBOUT, THE PNF WAS ATTENDING TO A PWR SURGE ON THE R ENG WHICH MOMENTARILY EXCEEDED TKOF LIMITATIONS. THE ACFT WAS CLBING IN EXCESS OF 2000 FPM AT THE TIME.
