Narrative:
ATIS stated thin obscured 2 overcast, 1/8 light drizzle and fog. Temperature 60 dewpoint 60 departure runway 09. Crew briefed engine failure procedure and runway 09 SID, both of which called for straight out runway heading. During push back, company sent message to use runway 04R because of weight. Cockpit duties and taxi procedures during poor visibility occupied crews attention. Once reaching the runway tower cleared aircraft for takeoff 'without delay, aircraft on 6 mi final.' crew additionally distracted by late safety briefing by flight attendants. As a result of change of runway with high demand workload, crew failed to properly brief runway 04R SID which called for turn to southeast heading at 4 mi DME. Turn was not initiated until approximately 10 mi DME after requested by bos departure. High workloads, low WX, changing sits place maximum demands on pilots. (Division of attention.) correct situation by stopping all duties when a change occurs and brief all appropriate procedures.

Title: ACR FAILS TO TURN AT 4 MI DME AS REQUIRED ON SID.
Narrative: ATIS STATED THIN OBSCURED 2 OVCST, 1/8 LIGHT DRIZZLE AND FOG. TEMP 60 DEWPOINT 60 DEP RWY 09. CREW BRIEFED ENG FAILURE PROC AND RWY 09 SID, BOTH OF WHICH CALLED FOR STRAIGHT OUT RWY HDG. DURING PUSH BACK, COMPANY SENT MESSAGE TO USE RWY 04R BECAUSE OF WT. COCKPIT DUTIES AND TAXI PROCS DURING POOR VISIBILITY OCCUPIED CREWS ATTN. ONCE REACHING THE RWY TWR CLRED ACFT FOR TKOF 'WITHOUT DELAY, ACFT ON 6 MI FINAL.' CREW ADDITIONALLY DISTRACTED BY LATE SAFETY BRIEFING BY FLT ATTENDANTS. AS A RESULT OF CHANGE OF RWY WITH HIGH DEMAND WORKLOAD, CREW FAILED TO PROPERLY BRIEF RWY 04R SID WHICH CALLED FOR TURN TO SE HDG AT 4 MI DME. TURN WAS NOT INITIATED UNTIL APPROX 10 MI DME AFTER REQUESTED BY BOS DEP. HIGH WORKLOADS, LOW WX, CHANGING SITS PLACE MAX DEMANDS ON PLTS. (DIVISION OF ATTN.) CORRECT SIT BY STOPPING ALL DUTIES WHEN A CHANGE OCCURS AND BRIEF ALL APPROPRIATE PROCS.
