Narrative:
Oakland (oak) ATIS frequency (128.5) is continually interfered with by an oakland local approach control frequency that I could not positively identify. Happens primarily when approaching oak from south and above 10000 ft. Could result in obtaining incorrect ATIS information and usually causes delays in obtaining ATIS altimeter settings until close to oak. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: oak tower supervisor stated they have had no reports of interference with ATIS frequency 128.5.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: ACR X RECEIVED INTERFERENCE ON OAK ATIS FREQ 128 PT 5.
Narrative: OAKLAND (OAK) ATIS FREQ (128.5) IS CONTINUALLY INTERFERED WITH BY AN OAKLAND LCL APCH CTL FREQ THAT I COULD NOT POSITIVELY IDENT. HAPPENS PRIMARILY WHEN APCHING OAK FROM S AND ABOVE 10000 FT. COULD RESULT IN OBTAINING INCORRECT ATIS INFO AND USUALLY CAUSES DELAYS IN OBTAINING ATIS ALTIMETER SETTINGS UNTIL CLOSE TO OAK. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: OAK TWR SUPVR STATED THEY HAVE HAD NO RPTS OF INTERFERENCE WITH ATIS FREQ 128.5.
