Narrative:
Aircraft climbing from FL310 to FL330. Stopped climb at FL335 and returned to FL330. Upon reaching FL332 ATC then reclred us to FL350. Aircraft autoplt did not feature an altitude hold mode. Our clearance was initially to FL350 and then reclred to FL330. Possible confusion on level cleared. Supplemental information from acn 307958: at the time of the occurrence, I was facing backwards retrieving a manual from my flight kit to check for the company en route SELCAL frequency. This was the 3RD morning of a rotation that has 4 early morning departures. Our wake-up call this morning was XX10 EDT. The angle of the sun was low which caused the altitude warning light's intensity to not be as noticeable as it is in the shade. The altitude in the warning system was set correctly, but the block iv autoplts of our fleet have no altitude capture feature. The PF initially leveled off at FL330, but before he engaged altitude hold, another problem with the omega navigation system tying into the autoplt distracted him.

Title: ALTDEV ALT OVERSHOT -- ACR CLBS ABOVE ITS ASSIGNED ALT AND THE CREW QUICKLY RETURNS TO THE PROPER ALT.
Narrative: ACFT CLBING FROM FL310 TO FL330. STOPPED CLB AT FL335 AND RETURNED TO FL330. UPON REACHING FL332 ATC THEN RECLRED US TO FL350. ACFT AUTOPLT DID NOT FEATURE AN ALT HOLD MODE. OUR CLRNC WAS INITIALLY TO FL350 AND THEN RECLRED TO FL330. POSSIBLE CONFUSION ON LEVEL CLRED. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 307958: AT THE TIME OF THE OCCURRENCE, I WAS FACING BACKWARDS RETRIEVING A MANUAL FROM MY FLT KIT TO CHK FOR THE COMPANY ENRTE SELCAL FREQ. THIS WAS THE 3RD MORNING OF A ROTATION THAT HAS 4 EARLY MORNING DEPS. OUR WAKE-UP CALL THIS MORNING WAS XX10 EDT. THE ANGLE OF THE SUN WAS LOW WHICH CAUSED THE ALT WARNING LIGHT'S INTENSITY TO NOT BE AS NOTICEABLE AS IT IS IN THE SHADE. THE ALT IN THE WARNING SYS WAS SET CORRECTLY, BUT THE BLOCK IV AUTOPLTS OF OUR FLEET HAVE NO ALT CAPTURE FEATURE. THE PF INITIALLY LEVELED OFF AT FL330, BUT BEFORE HE ENGAGED ALT HOLD, ANOTHER PROB WITH THE OMEGA NAV SYS TYING INTO THE AUTOPLT DISTRACTED HIM.
