Narrative:
Our MD80 was at the jetway at ind when an air carrier Y DC9-30 pwrbacked from the opposite gate in alleyway, when suddenly our aircraft shook violently. The DC9-30 had passed under our elevator with his buckets deployed. They were within ft of hitting our MD80. The alleyway at ind is too small for pwrbacks with what looked like only 2 people. Air carrier Y saved dollars but put a lot of people at risk.
