Narrative:
During a part 135 cargo flight, the nose gear on the cessna 172RG partially collapsed during the landing rollout. With the wind at 150 degrees at 9 KTS, I requested runway 9 at the stinson airport. I was cleared to land on runway 9 and a normal, standard approach was made. After 2 gump checks, everything looked normal. After touchdown of the mains, the nose began to lower. I applied brakes once on the runway and the nose lowered even more and steering became difficult. I immediately pulled the mixture out to cut off the engine and notified the tower of a problem. I cannot think of any reason for the failure of the nose gear other than mechanical problem. The nose partially collapsed damaging 1 landing gear door and nicking the propeller. I was not injured.

Title: PARTIAL COLLAPSE OF NOSE GEAR DURING LNDG ROLL.
Narrative: DURING A PART 135 CARGO FLT, THE NOSE GEAR ON THE CESSNA 172RG PARTIALLY COLLAPSED DURING THE LNDG ROLLOUT. WITH THE WIND AT 150 DEGS AT 9 KTS, I REQUESTED RWY 9 AT THE STINSON ARPT. I WAS CLRED TO LAND ON RWY 9 AND A NORMAL, STANDARD APCH WAS MADE. AFTER 2 GUMP CHKS, EVERYTHING LOOKED NORMAL. AFTER TOUCHDOWN OF THE MAINS, THE NOSE BEGAN TO LOWER. I APPLIED BRAKES ONCE ON THE RWY AND THE NOSE LOWERED EVEN MORE AND STEERING BECAME DIFFICULT. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED THE MIXTURE OUT TO CUT OFF THE ENG AND NOTIFIED THE TWR OF A PROB. I CANNOT THINK OF ANY REASON FOR THE FAILURE OF THE NOSE GEAR OTHER THAN MECHANICAL PROB. THE NOSE PARTIALLY COLLAPSED DAMAGING 1 LNDG GEAR DOOR AND NICKING THE PROP. I WAS NOT INJURED.
