Narrative:
We pushed back from the gate at hartford, ct (bdl). Captain was cleared to start engines. We started and were cleared to taxi from ground control. When we reached our destination we were informed a cessna was damaged from our jet blast. The cessna pilot had left his airplane and left his door open. We were informed the door had been damaged. We were not told by the pushback crew or ground control of any aircraft behind us. We don't even know what kind of cessna it was. Supplemental information from acn 309417: I do not know if the damage occurred as a result of our idle thrust or when we applied breakaway power. Normal breakaway power was applied. The signalman gave us taxi signals. The signals were complied with and I returned to idle thrust. The cessna was behind and out of our field of vision. The pushback crew should have advised us of the hazard so that we could have pulled further away from the aircraft in question before starting.
