Narrative:

We were asking for FL290, but given FL260 (as far as last assigned). Left seat PF captain inadvertently allowed autoplt to ascend to 26420 ft. I noticed and helped captain get aircraft down to FL260. Center later indicated FL260 would be our 'final' en route altitude. The autoplt on this aircraft does not have an 'altitude' pre-select and I (copilot) failed to monitor his climb. Lesson learned!
