Narrative:
Checked 3 times for landing traffic subsequent to run-up and checks. Did not see or hear anyone except 1 aircraft on downwind. Communicated intention to depart. Looked back as I started turn into position for takeoff roll and saw aircraft on final. At the time I felt I had no option other than to continue takeoff roll and get out of his way. After the incident I decided that I probably should have discontinued the takeoff, turned the aircraft around and taxied back off the runway. I think the other aircraft turned back onto downwind, not sure. Also, he probably communicated intent to turn final at same time I called out takeoff intent, so that I did not hear him and he did not hear me. Training did not cover this situation.

Title: RPTR INADVERTENTLY CUT IN FRONT OF LNDG ACFT TO ENTER RWY AND TKOF.
Narrative: CHKED 3 TIMES FOR LNDG TFC SUBSEQUENT TO RUN-UP AND CHKS. DID NOT SEE OR HEAR ANYONE EXCEPT 1 ACFT ON DOWNWIND. COMMUNICATED INTENTION TO DEPART. LOOKED BACK AS I STARTED TURN INTO POS FOR TKOF ROLL AND SAW ACFT ON FINAL. AT THE TIME I FELT I HAD NO OPTION OTHER THAN TO CONTINUE TKOF ROLL AND GET OUT OF HIS WAY. AFTER THE INCIDENT I DECIDED THAT I PROBABLY SHOULD HAVE DISCONTINUED THE TKOF, TURNED THE ACFT AROUND AND TAXIED BACK OFF THE RWY. I THINK THE OTHER ACFT TURNED BACK ONTO DOWNWIND, NOT SURE. ALSO, HE PROBABLY COMMUNICATED INTENT TO TURN FINAL AT SAME TIME I CALLED OUT TKOF INTENT, SO THAT I DID NOT HEAR HIM AND HE DID NOT HEAR ME. TRAINING DID NOT COVER THIS SIT.
