Narrative:
On takeoff out of jfk airport we tried to bring the flaps from 2 degrees to up and found that our inboard flaps came up but our outboard flaps stopped at 2 degrees. The split flap protection had activated and stopped the outboard flaps at 2 degrees. As per our checklist hydraulic pressure was removed from all flaps and the inboard flaps electrically extended to 30 degrees. Our landing speed was increased by 20 KTS and an uneventful landing was made back at jfk.
